|This work was created in a pine forest north of Brisbane . The actual site for the work was just off a sandy 4WD track and in this particular section, rain would collect at the bottom of the track and then flow down into a river.
All along the trail are these tiny rocks which vary from white to a black/brown color. My initial intention was only to use the color of the rocks as a metaphor for the way the water would run off this track however the rocks themselves are a gradient of texture.
The white rocks at the start are very brittle and easily turn into a powder when crushed. The texture gets harder as you progress to the dark brown rocks - almost like the way the rain first hits the ground lightly then heavier and heavier to eventually flow to a larger stream or river.
